Considérant qu'il n'y avait pas de budget pour la créer, l'Escort WRC rendit fière Ford. Il était entendu qu'elle était un modèle d'intérim pour maintenir une présence Ford au championnat mondial des rallye en attendant l'apparition de la Focus. Elle a été aussi la dernière voiture à moteur en ligne conçue à Boreham.

Considering that there was never a budget to create it, the Escort WRC did Ford Proud. It was always intended to be an interim model that maintened a Ford presence in World Championship rallying until the Focus appeared. It was also the last front-line Ford rally car conceived at Boreham.
